Ugo Dehaes commence la danse à avec une formation professionnelle à P.A.R.T.S, l’école de Anne Teresa De Keersmaeker/Rosas.
En 1998 il rejoint la compagnie Damaged Goods de Meg Stuart, avec qui il parcours le monde entier pendant 3 années. En 2000 Ugo fond sa propre compagnie, kwaad bloed (mauvais sang), et depuis il crée régulièrement des nouvelles chorégraphies pour des danseurs très variés (professionnel, amateurs, adultes de toute age et enfants).
En 2018 il entame la recherche de la danse sans corps humains, et travaille désormais comme chorégraphe des choses: Il construit des sculptures robotiques.
Pour ce clip, Ugo a faite une chorégraphie de 3 robots, inspiré par le morceau ‘Governing, Belgian style’ de Tuur.
Comme vous le savez, la Belgique (avec ses 3 Communautés, 4 gouvernements, 4 parlements, quelques Senats et, comme cérise sur le gâteau, une famille Royale Réputé) est champion du monde ‘Pays sans gouvernement’. 541 Jours, après avoir battu L’Iraq et le Senegal. (Et ça tournait encore)

Ugo Dehaes started his full-time dance education at P.A.R.T.S, the international school for dancers and choreographers directed by Anne Teresa De Keersmaeker. In 1998 Ugo started to work as a dancer for Meg Stuart/Damaged Goods. During three years he collaborated on the pieces appetite and Highway 101.
In 2000 he founded the company kwaad bloed [www.kwaadbloed.com] and from that moment onwards Ugo created regularly new choreographies.
Since 2018 Ugo shifted his focus and became a choreographer of things: moving sculptures, installations with interactive robots… and next to his choreographic work, Ugo also made Coupure, a permanent, moving sculpture for the city of Bruges.
For this clip, Ugo chose Tuur’s composition ‘Governing, Belgian style’ to make a choreography with 3 robots.
As you know, Belgium is (gifted with 3 Communities, 4 governments, 4 parlements, a few Senats and a reputated Royal Family), world champion ‘Country without Governement’ since 2010 (541 days). (beating Irak and Senegal)

Ugo Dehaes is danser van opleiding. Na klassiek ballet volgde hij onder andere een opleiding bij P.A.R.T.S., de internationale school voor dansers en choreografen onder leiding van Anne Teresa De Keersmaeker. In 1998 begon Ugo als danser te werken voor Meg Stuart/Damaged Goods en start later zijn eigen danscompagnie, Kwaad Bloed op, waarmee hij verschillende voorstellingen maakt (waaronder ‘Intimicy’, een voorstelling met actrice Guylène Olivares en Tuur Florizoone.
Vanaf 2018 verschoof Ugo’s focus en werd hij een Choreograaf van Dingen. Hij maakte de bewegende sculptuur Stalactiet (2018) voor Tweetakt Festival (NL), Forced Labor: Arena (2020), een installatie met 8 interactieve robots.
Voor deze film heeft hij nieuwe robots gecreëerd die een choreografie maken op mijn compositie ‘Governing, Belgian style’. Zoals iedereen weet, kunnen we er wat van in België, met onze 3 gewesten, 4 Regeringen, 4 Parlementen, Senaten… en een Koningshuis als kers op de taart. In 2010 werden we trots wereldkampioen ‘land zonder regering’ met een knappe 541 dagen, Irak en Senegal voorbijstekend. En alles bleef draaien!
